Northeast Region Team
Wanda Sample is the Brand Ambassador for Avalon’s Northeast Region. She has an MBA from Clarkson University and has more than 25 years of experience in the trade and transportation industry. Wanda joined Avalon in 2002 as Marketing Manager and was later promoted to Director of Trade Relations to manage Avalon’s trade affairs and relationships with key industry organizations including the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) and the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA). She was later promoted to Regional Vice President of Avalon’s New York office before transitioning to her current role.
Prior to joining Avalon, Wanda worked as a Risk Coordinator for a national customs broker and freight forwarder for 17 years. There, Wanda gained extensive knowledge of surety bonds, cargo insurance, professional liability, property and casualty, and other commercial insurance products. Additionally, she was responsible for conducting compliance audits at various regional offices throughout the United States.
Wanda is actively involved in the trade community and serves on the board of the Air & Expedited Motor Carriers Association (AEMCA), Long Island Import Export Association (LIIEA), and The Semantics. She serves on the membership committee of the National Association of Foreign-Trade Zones (NAFTZ) and oversees Avalon’s bond program for NAFTZ members. She is also a member of JFK Brokers Association and NYNJFFFBA.
In her personal time, Wanda enjoys taking visitors for walking tours of lower Manhattan, spending time in upstate NY along the Canadian border, and remains hopeful she will have a decent golf game someday!
