At Avalon, we deeply value Family and Community. Our Avalon Compassion Team (A.C.T.) is dedicated to serving the community with compassion and taking action to make a positive impact. In the spirit of giving and gratitude during this holiday season, Avalon continues our tradition of donating to Wreaths Across America on behalf of our clients. We are deeply thankful for our clients and the opportunity to contribute to WAA, which honors that gratitude.
Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization whose mission is to remember, honor and teach - remember our fallen U.S. Veterans, honor those that serve our country, and teach the next generation the value of freedom. The organization works year-round to fulfill this mission through various activities such as the Remembrance Tree Program, a Mobile Education Exhibit, WAA Radio, their TEACH program, and more. Each December during the annual Wreaths Across America Day ceremonies, their goal is to place a wreath on every hero’s grave to show Veterans and their families that their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
In 2023, 675 truckloads of wreaths were delivered nationwide. Hundreds of professional truck drivers representing over 332 motor carriers volunteered their time, equipment, and fuel to transport 3.1 million wreaths to over 4,200 participating locations.
This year, National Wreaths Across America Day is December 14, 2024. Wreaths Across America will coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and almost 4,600 other locations nationwide, including Puerto Rico. The week-long event starts on December 7th with the “Escort to Arlington” known as the country’s longest veterans’ parade. “The Escort to Arlington” will travel down the East Coast and end at Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday, December 14th. You can check the route itinerary here.
According to the Wreaths Across America website, “Transportation partners are the backbone of the Wreaths Across America effort.” Each year, volunteer trucking and logistics companies assist in delivering the wreaths not only to Arlington but also to the 4,000 other participating cemeteries. Volunteers will gather at cemeteries throughout the country on December 14th to help place these wreaths on the markers of our fallen heroes.
Avalon is proud to have employees nationwide attending their local ceremonies. If you would like to attend or volunteer at a wreath-laying ceremony near you, visit our Corporate Sponsor page.
